The Bureau of Land Management will hold an additional competitive oil and gas lease sale online on Sept. 30, 2026, offering the same 14 parcels (20,600.11 acres) in the Elko District that received no bids on Sept. 16.

The re-offer is required under the Working Families Tax Cut Act when a prior sale leaves 25 percent or more of acreage without bids. Bidding occurs through Efficient Markets; details, maps and stipulations are posted on the National Fluid Lease Sale System and ePlanning.

Parcels include resource protections for wildlife, cultural sites and other values. Half of bonus bids, rentals and royalties go to the State of Nevada.

This sale is distinct from the previously announced October geothermal lease sale that includes Nye and Mineral parcels. Interested parties should review the official notice for exact acreage, royalty rates and protest deadlines; no Gabbs-valley surface disturbance is indicated in the Elko package.
